[ ABOUT THE ARTIST ]
[ PRACTICE ]
Jagadish Bananki is a multidisciplinary artist and sculptor whose practice explores the tension between material and void, surface and depth. Working across stone, metal, and mixed media, his work invites the viewer into a dialogue with form.
Based between studio and landscape, Bananki draws from geological time, topographical memory, and the residue of light on surface — translating these forces into enduring physical objects.
His sculptures occupy an uneasy space between the natural and the constructed, challenging the viewer's sense of weight, permanence, and touch.
[ BIOGRAPHY ]
Born and raised in Hyderabad, India, Bananki trained at the National Institute of Fine Arts before establishing his studio practice in 2007.
His work has been acquired by private collectors and public institutions across Europe and Asia. He has been a resident artist at studios in Berlin, Mumbai, and London.
Bananki currently works from his studio in Hyderabad, where he divides his time between large-format sculpture and intimate drawings in graphite and oxide.
